Lahore: Two killed, 28 injured in Anarkali Bazaar blast 

LAHORE: Two people, including a child, were killed and 28 others injured in an explosion at Anar Kali Bazaar near Lohari Gate.


According to Geo News, an explosion took place near the shops of Anarkali Bazaar which could be heard from afar while the blast shattered the windows of several buildings and also damaged motorcycles parked nearby.


Upon receiving the report of the incident, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area and started rescue operations. The blast site has been sealed with awnings.

According to Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen, the body of one person killed in the blast was brought to the hospital while another died at the hospital.


According to Dr Yasmeen, three women were injured in the blast and their condition is critical. Four others were injured in the blast and their bones were broken.


According to DC Lahore, the dead included a 9-year-old child, identified as Absar, a resident of Karachi. Absar's parents were also injured in the blast.


The bomber struck shortly after 1:45 p.m.

The deputy commissioner said the blast took place at 1:45 a.m. and a bomb disposal squad was working to determine the cause.


 Sources said that a pit had been dug at the site of the blast and forensic teams were gathering evidence.

Police confirmed the blast in the area, saying a planted bomb had been planted near the shops, which exploded and caused a pit about a foot and a half deep.


Sources said the blast took place at the entrance of Anarkali Bazaar and the bomb was planted near shops near a private bank.


DIG Operations Dr Abid said that preliminary investigation of the incident has been started.


CCTV footage of the blast has also surfaced, which shows a loud explosion in the parking lot outside the bank, after which motorcycles and wheelbarrows caught fire.


The Prime Minister called for a report

On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed regret over the loss of precious human lives in the Lahore blast and directed to provide immediate medical aid to the injured.


Prime Minister Imran Khan has demanded a report of the incident from the Punjab government.

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has said that investigations are underway to find out who was involved in the Lahore blasts.


Preliminary investigation report submitted to Punjab Chief Minister

IG Punjab has submitted a preliminary investigation report on the blast to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar.


 According to initial reports, the blast was caused by a planted device. One and a half kilograms of explosives were used in the blast. One building and eight motorcycles were damaged in the blast.
